    What is a UNC path?

A UNC path is accessible by all workstations on the office network. The UNC is the "Universal Naming Convention" which will be similar to the following format "\\server\Program Files\SherWare\DMIE\sherdata\"

This makes so that any computer in the office will be able to open the software. If you had the "c:" drive in the path then each computer would not be able to find the data because they would look on themselves instead of the correct computer.
