Company Information
The company Information window stores the company name and address for the currently open company. This will be setup for each company that you have.
You can setup multiple companies within the software but you cannot switch between companies on this window. Only one company will be displayed here which will be the currently open one. If you want to see this window for another company you will have to go to the file menu, select open company, and then open the company information window again.
Company Name
The name the company uses to do business. This is the name that will be displayed in the open company list. It is also the name that prints at the top of each report.
Address
The company's business address. There are two lines for the address. Each line can be up to 40 characters long. Enter the street address in the first line and the P.O. Box address, if any, in the second line.
City/State/Zip
The city, state, and zip code portion of the company address.
Tax ID
The company's federal tax identification number. This number is used when filing 1099s, W2 forms, or various other compliance reports.
Agent Name
If your company processes the revenue distribution or accounting for the company, and you want your company's name to be displayed at the top of the reports as an agent for the company being processed, enter your company's name here.
Contact Name
The person within your company to contact about the information disbursed by the software.
Data File Path
Enter the fully qualified data path for the location of this company's files. Enter the path preceded by the drive letter on which the files will reside. You may also enter a UNC path as opposed to the drive letter. The default path is generally c:\program files (x86)\sherware\DMIE\datafiles\xxxxdata.
QuickBooks Filename
Enter the fully qualified path to the location of your QuickBook's company filename. This file should end with a .QBW extension.
To find the correct path for your QuickBooks company, complete these steps:
1) Open The QuickBooks company that you want to integrate with.
2) Make sure you are logged in as an Admin user.
3) Press F2. This will bring up the "Product Information window."
4) Note the path listed in the "Location field."
5) Open the company information window in SherWare.
6) Change the "QuickBooks Filename" path to be the same path you noted in step 4. You can copy and paste the path from that field in QB or browse to it.
7) Close and save the company information screen.
8) If this is the first time these two are interfacing it may give you a dialogue to grant permission and display a security certificate.
Phone/Fax Numbers
The company's phone and fax numbers. One or both of these numbers is required for 1099s and various other compliance reports.
Version
Shows the current version of the software you have.
System Flags
Do not change this unless instructed to do so by a SherWare Support Technician.
Use Audit Trail
Enables an audit trail in the software that will allow you to see what changes were made on each window. The information will include the date, time, user, window, and changes made. When this is marked you can audit the changes under the special utilities menu on the "View Audit Log" window.
The system will not allow you to change the name of the Sample Company.
