Reissuing/Voiding Checks
Reissuing Checks
Any checks that need re-issued will need to be re-issued in QuickBooks. Under the Banking menu select Use Register. Find the check that needs re-issued. Highlight the check number then press "t" on your keyboard. This will change the check number to be "To Print". You can then print the check again out of QuickBooks.
Nothing has to be done in SherWare because the only thing that would be affected is the check register report. Generally any check register reports you use would be printed out of QuickBooks anways. However, If you want the reissued check number to be used in SherWare's check register instead of the original check number then you will need to find the check in SherWare's check register and manually change the check number to be the same as the re-issued check number.
Voiding Checks
Voiding a check changes the check amount to zero and marks the check as being voided. To void a check, click on the V button on the toolbar while the check register screen is open.
Vendor Checks - Voiding a check that was used to pay a bill will mark those bills as needing to be paid again.
Disbursement Checks - Voiding an owner check will bring up a dialog box that will ask you if you wish to send the money to the clearing account or the suspense account. If this is money that will be paid to an owner in the future, choose the suspense account. This will place the revenue from this check in the suspense history file, where it will be included with the next revenue closing that you do.
