Form 1096

The 1096 is a summary page for the 1099s that should be sent to the IRS with the 1099s. The 1096 reports the total number of 1099 records, some total amounts for all of the submitted files and a few other things.

SherWare does not have a report that will fill out the 1096. You can use the "1099 Summary report" to get all the totals that are needed on the 1096. You can then manually fill in the numbers needed on the 1096.

If you are filing electronically, the file created in SherWare contains all the summed information that the IRS needs. A 1096 is not necessary if you are filing electronically. SherWare can submit your electronic file for a fee.
