Modifying the 1099 Report Formats
The 1099 reports should line up by default. However, some printer settings may cause them to be a little out of line. You can adjust where each field prints on the 1099 reports in the Report Designer. To access the report designer go to the utilities menu and select 1099 Setup, then the 1099 report that you wish to modify. After you have made a modification to the 1099 format, be sure to Save the changes under the File menu before closing the format.
Modify 1099 Format (ten99rptl) - This format is used when you print the 1099s onto the pre-printed forms. If the amounts are not printing into the boxes correctly you can adjust them here.
Modify 1099 Misc Replacement (ten99miscx) - Used when printing the 1099 Misc-Replacement onto blank paper. By default you will not be able to modify this report as it will be disabled. If you do feel you need to modify it then contact support and they will enable the menu option for you.
Modify 1099 Misc Replacement by well (ten99miscw) - Used when printing the 1099 Misc-Replacement onto blank paper and you had the option marked to "Print by Well".
Using the Report Designer - You should not need to make any major changes to these formats. Simply click on a field that needs adjusted and use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move it in the direction it needs to go. You can select multiple fields at the same time by holding the shift key when you click on each field, or by dragging a box around multiple fields. To save the format under the file menu by selecting "Save". Before making any changes to these reports it is a good idea to have a backup of the originals in case you need to restore them. These files are stored within the SherWare install directory in the "Rpts" folder. You can create a backup of the whole "Rpts" folder, or just the files for the report you are modifying. Each report is made up of two files, one is an .FRX and the other is an .FRT. The actual file name is listed above by each report.
