I have a whole box of Dot-Matrix checks, which have the stub below. We are trying to use these up by printing them on our new laser printer. We want to remove the side perforations and separate the continuous feed checks into individual sheets. I was able to use the "custom check format" to print these checks on the last distribution. HOWEVER, it was necessary to print one check at a time. That is, I had to go through the complete print procedure (a bunch of mouse clicks) and select each individual landowner in order to print all the checks (about 70). Do you have a solution that would allow me to print all the checks in a single run?

The software is compatible with dot-matrix check formats, so you're welcome to use this stock on a dot-matrix printer if available.

If however, you'd like to proceed as described below, you should be able to select the Laser - Stub Below check format in the Disbursement & JIB Options screen on the Checks tab. You can format that check format further using the Owner Check Setup screens from the Utilities menu. To move the check face information, click once on the field to select it. Then use the arrow keys to move the field to where you believe it needs to be. You may also click and drag the field to the desired location. The arrow keys on your keyboard will provide finer adjustments. Several of the fields can be selected at the same time and moved together by either using the mouse and drawing a rectangle around them, or by clicking on each one while holding down the Shift key.

When you are finished formatting the check, choose Save from the File menu and then choose Close from the same File menu.

    To move a field:
Click once on the field to select it. Then click again and hold while dragging it to the desired location. Once you have it to your desired location, smaller adjustments can be made using the arrow keys on your keyboard to move the field instead of your mouse.

    Stretching a field:
Click once on the field to select it. Then click and hold on the box the edge of the selected field while moving your cursor to stretch the field. You can also hold the Ctrl key and press your right or left arrow key to stretch a field horizontally.

You may also need to set up a custom paper size using the Printers & Faxes window from your Control Panel, to accommodate the check stock within your laser printer.

I am trying to print a test on the owner laser stub check and it will not let me print. It's giving me an error: Alias 'CHECKTMP' is not found. How can I fix this so I can change the format of the checks?

It sounds as if you may be trying to print a preview from the Report Designer window while editing the check format. You won't be able to preview the format from that screen. Rather, it is recommended that you click the Alignment button in the Print Checks screen to test the alignment of the format after editing. You can also try printing a check in the print queue on blank paper and then holding it up to your check stock.

How do I change the format of how my check prints?

You can edit the face of the check format from the Utilities menu > Owner Check Setup, and then choose the format that you selected in the Disbursement & JIB Options screen on the Checks tab. You can click and drag the fields on the check face area to the desired location, and you can also re-size them if needed. *The check is selected under Edit > Preferences > Check Printing Preferences in new versions of the software.*

To move the check face information, click once on the field to select it. Then use the arrow keys to move the field to where you believe it needs to be. You may also click and drag the field to the desired location. The arrow keys on your keyboard will provide finer adjustments. Adding a picture:
From the Report Controls toolbar click on the Picture/OLE Bound Control button. Click in the area of the check that you want the picture. Click, drag and release to make a field the size of the picture that you want.
In the Report Picture screen, browse to the pictures file on your computer and choose all of the other desired settings, then press OK.
Adjust the location and size of the picture if necessary.

When you are finished formatting the check, choose Save from the File menu and then choose Close from the same File menu.
