    We printed our first royalty checks today and the checks printed, but voided almost every other check. We selected laser checks with voucher at the bottom and use standard QuickBooks checks with the check and two stubs at the bottom. The check stubs were not overflowing to the next stub and we don't have the 'void next check' option selected in the setup for these checks. Any ideas?

    It appears that the number of lines on your check stub may be set too high causing the checks to overflow to the next check, and voiding it. This can be corrected by reducing the number in the Disbursement & JIB Options screen on the Checks tab. You can also preview the checks before printing them the next time to ensure that they are not overflowing to the next page.

    If your number of lines per check stub is set at 0, then the system will default to 12. However, it is also possible that you have extra space built into the stub area of your check format. You can check this by editing the check format you're using from the Utilities menu > Owner Check Setup. Look in the stub area towards the bottom of the format. Make sure that the gray Detail bar is snug up against the fields that appear just above it, such as cwellname, etc. To move the bar, just click on it and drag it upward, and release. When finished making changes, press Ctrl + W on your keyboard to save changes and close the format.

    I am trying to print a test on the owner laser stub check and it will not let me print. It's giving me an error: Alias 'CHECKTMP' is not found. How can I fix this so I can change the format of the checks?

    It sounds as if you may be trying to print a preview from the Report Designer window while editing the check format. You won't be able to preview the format from that screen. Rather, it is recommended that you click the Alignment button in the Print Checks screen to test the alignment of the format after editing. You can also try printing a check in the print queue on blank paper and then holding it up to your check stock.

    My check stub isn't displaying the full price of oil. How do I correct this?

    In the Disbursement & JIB Options screen, click on the Checks tab. (This will be under Edit > Preferences > Check Printing Preferences in new versions of the software.)

    On that tab, the left side will display a list of check formats. Which check format do you have selected? Whatever check format you have selected is the one that you will need to modify from the Utilities menu > Owner Check Setup.

    When you open the format through that menu, you should see a field in the stub area called 'nprice'. Double-click on that field so that it opens the Report Expression window. In this window, add a '9' (without quotes) to the beginning of the format so that it appears as 999.99. When you have finished, click OK to close the window.

    Then, click once on the nprice field so that it is selected. Then, hover your mouse over the handle on the side of the field so that your mouse turns into a double-sided arrow. When the mouse appears this way, click and hold down the mouse button, and then drag to the left or right to widen the field. After it has been widened, release the mouse button. When finished with this process, click Ctrl + W on your keyboard to save the changes and close the format.

    On our check stub under the column "T" (type) - what does the letter "M" mean? We have G for gas in everything, but I've noticed this "M" coming up in some people's check stubs?

    The M on the check stubs could mean one of two things. First, it could be revenue that was entered as MISC1 or MISC2. The more likely explanation is that the owner had a previous Minimum which was released and included on this check. You can view their suspense report under Reports > Suspense Reports > Owner Suspense Reports and you should see the money going into suspense, and then coming back out when it got paid out.

    On the summary for our gas disbursement for prior balance, there is no information other than the net amount, and the date uses the current date instead of the date the gas was sold. Is there a way that it can show the info on the summary and the check stub?

    Any prior balances released from suspense do not include detail of the well activity. If you need to provide this information, you will need to print the Owner Distribution Statement, or Summary for the run in which the amount went into suspense.

    I entered a bill on SherWare that had two invoices, then printed the check in QuickBooks. The check stub information that printed from QuickBooks didn't show BOTH invoice numbers. Why did it only show the first invoice number, but the total of the two invoices? I would like both invoice numbers to show on the check stub. Is there a way?

    Did you enter both invoices on the same Enter Bills screen? You will have to enter two separate bills, one for each invoice, then choose both of them when paying them from the pay bills screen. It will then show both invoice numbers on the stub.

    If both bills are marked to be paid and they are for the same vendor it will create one check for that vendor. Both bills will be listed on the stub.

    When I printed the checks, there was nothing printed on the bottom stub. Did I select the wrong check to print? We have the 3 part forms with the check at the top and two stubs at the bottom.

    The option to print a duplicate stub isn't marked in the software by default. You can select the option to "Print Duplicate Stub" from the Checks tab of the Maintain > Disbursement and JIB Options screen, and it will now start printing information on the bottom stub.
