I have a well group that has three wells in it. I want to take out one of the wells and group it by itself. Can I do that?

Just add a new to the Well Group Definition screen, and then change the one well to be in that new group. Just be aware that any past suspense history for that well will not transfer to the new group, so you may have to manually change it on the Suspense History screen to be in the new group.

I have been entering expenses for several wells, but we are not prepared to do a production run for all of the wells yet. Right now they are all included in the 00-default group. We were wondering if there is a way of separating them so we can close one well at a time. Also, if we separate them, can we group them back together in the future?

Yes, you can create a new well group within the Well Group Definitions screen (under the Maintain menu). You can then assign the well(s) that you want to process now to that group in the Well Information screen. Since runs are closed by group, the system will only process the wells within the group that you choose when you close the run. You can switch wells back to a different group at any time in the future. But keep in mind that any well history created while the well was part of a different group will not be viewable if the well is not currently in that group.

Meaning, if a well is in group 01, and later moved to group 00, the activity processed while it was part of group 01, would not be viewable on a well report unless you temporarily move the well back to group 01 in order to view the report.

Is there a way to close a JIB Run and print the JIB's and not include one particular lease? There are some issues among the partners about what to do with a lease. I would like to produce a JIB for the other leases in which they are involved but not include this one lease in the JIB until the issues are resolved. Can this be done?

You can do this by creating a separate well group through the Well Group Definitions screen. Then, place this disputed lease (well) in that well group until the issue is resolved. This will exclude that lease from your others when you close the JIB Run because it won't be in the original well group with the other leases. Once the issue is resolved, move the well back to that original well group. Changing the well group for a well is done in the Well Information screen.

Some wells we have interest in are only one well in one field. Do I set up a different "well group" for those even though it's one well? I need to keep them separated.

When you close a run, you're closing for a specific group, so if you want to keep a well strictly separate from other wells, it's best to put it in a separate group. Many reports (like production reports) can be run to include All Groups, but having them in a separate group also gives you the flexibility of running reports ONLY for that group. Just be aware that if an owner has an interest in wells in multiple groups, they'll receive separate checks, one for each group that gets closed.

When I close a JIB Run it asks which well group to close. I want to close all but one group. Should I close the groups I want to individually? I wasn't sure if I closed group #1 that I would be able to close group #2 with the same date.

You'll need to close the groups individually. You're not able to close multiple groups at the same time. You can use the same dates to close multiple groups.

If I have already entered invoices and checks for an owner under the default group, can I enter a new group for the owner to process his account separately and still have all expenses and payments appear on the owner distribution statement?

The well group will affect the well as a whole, not just an individual owner. If you change the well group on a well while there are still revenue and expenses for that well in the New Run, then they will be processed the next time you close a run for the well group that is currently chosen as the group for that well at the time the run is closed.

Even if that group is different than the group on the well when the activity was originally entered, as long as the activity has not already been processed on a run closing, it will be associated with the new group chosen at the time the run is closed. Any activity that was processed already on a run closing for the default group will stay associated with the default group, even if a new group is chosen for that well.
